Solar Street Lighting

Solar Street Lighting Systems

Solar street lights are standalone units in which a panel charges a battery during the day to run an LED luminaire at night, with no cabling back to a grid supply point.

Solar street lights are standalone units in which a panel charges a battery during the day to run an LED luminaire at night, with no cabling back to a grid supply point.

Overview

Each pole is self-contained: module, battery, controller and LED luminaire. That removes trenching, underground cabling and metered consumption, which is often why solar lighting is chosen for new layouts, campuses and perimeter roads.

GLS supplies and installs integrated and semi-integrated solar lighting with foundation work, pole erection, commissioning and optional maintenance.

Row of solar street light poles along a road at dusk

Who it is for

  • Residential layouts, gated communities and apartment campuses
  • Factory perimeters, yards and parking areas
  • Educational and institutional campuses
  • Village roads, panchayat and municipal lighting projects
  • Pathways, parks and internal roads

How it works

Day charging

The module charges the battery through a controller, with charge and load protection.

Night operation

The LED driver runs the luminaire on dusk-to-dawn or timed profiles, often with dimming to extend autonomy.

Autonomy

Battery capacity is sized to carry the lighting through the night and over one or more low-sun days.

Installation

Foundation, pole, mounting bracket, panel orientation and anti-theft fastening at each location.

Key benefits

  • No trenching, cabling or metered electricity for lighting
  • Independent of local grid availability
  • Each pole works independently, so one fault does not darken a stretch
  • Suited to new layouts where grid lighting is not yet available

Technical considerations

Lighting design
Wattage, pole height and spacing are chosen for the road width and required illuminance, not sold as one standard unit.
Battery life
Batteries are consumables; cycle life depends on chemistry, depth of discharge and temperature, so replacement is planned.
Maintenance
Panel cleaning, fastener checks and battery health review keep output stable over time.

Process

  1. 01 — Consultation

We understand your load profile, electricity bill, tariff category and objective.

  2. 02 — Site Assessment

Roof or land survey covering area, orientation, shadow, structure and electrical infrastructure.

  3. 03 — System Design

Capacity sizing, layout, module and inverter selection, cable and protection design.

  4. 04 — Proposal & Planning

Detailed scope, bill of materials, indicative generation and commercial proposal.

  5. 05 — Engineering & Installation

Structure fabrication and erection, module mounting, DC and AC works, earthing and protection.

  6. 06 — Testing & Commissioning

Insulation, polarity, string current, earthing and inverter commissioning checks.

  7. 07 — Grid Integration / Handover

Coordination for net-metering or grid approval where applicable, then documented handover.

  8. 08 — Monitoring & O&M

Generation review, scheduled cleaning and inspection, and corrective maintenance.

Frequently asked questions

  • How many hours do solar street lights work at night?

Typically dusk to dawn when the system is sized for it, often with dimming after peak hours. Actual runtime depends on battery capacity, luminaire wattage and recent sunlight.

  • What spacing is needed between solar light poles?

Spacing follows the lighting design — luminaire output, pole height, road width and the illuminance level required. We work this out for your layout rather than applying a fixed distance.
