Solar Batteries
Batteries store solar energy so selected loads can run when there is no generation or no grid.

What it is
A solar battery bank stores DC energy for later use. Its useful capacity depends on chemistry, permitted depth of discharge and temperature, and its life is counted in charge-discharge cycles rather than years alone.
Where it is used
- Off-grid systems at sites with no grid connection
- Hybrid systems providing outage backup
- Solar street lighting and standalone units
- Essential-load backup for homes and small facilities
Key specifications
- Chemistries
- Tubular / VRLA lead-acid and lithium (LFP) options
- Usable capacity
- Depends on permitted depth of discharge, which differs sharply by chemistry
- Sizing inputs
- Daily backup energy, autonomy days, surge loads and charge current
- Installation
- Ventilated, temperature-controlled location with safe access and clearances
- Life
- Rated in cycles at a stated depth of discharge, per manufacturer datasheet
Specifications and warranty
- Battery capacity, cycle life and warranty are per the manufacturer datasheet for the model quoted for your system.
- Battery replacement is a planned future cost and is discussed openly during design rather than left out of the comparison.
Where this fits in our services
Off-Grid Solar
An off-grid solar system stores generated energy in batteries so selected loads keep running without the grid. It suits locations with unreliable or unavailable supply, and costs more per kW than an on-grid system because of the battery and charge control.
Solar Street Lighting
Solar street lights are standalone units in which a panel charges a battery during the day to run an LED luminaire at night, with no cabling back to a grid supply point.
Solar O&M / Maintenance
Solar O&M keeps an installed plant generating close to its design output through scheduled cleaning, electrical inspection, performance review and prompt fault rectification. GLS provides O&M for its own installations and for systems built by others.
