Commercial and Industrial Solar Systems

Commercial and industrial solar reduces the cost of day-time electricity for businesses by generating power at the point of consumption. GLS engineers and executes these systems on factory, warehouse, institutional and commercial buildings.

Overview

For a commercial or industrial consumer, the value of solar comes from displacing high-tariff day-time units with on-site generation. Because these systems are larger, the engineering matters more: structural capacity, cable routing, protection coordination, HT/LT interface and safe working at height all have to be planned before execution starts.

GLS takes projects from feasibility and single-line diagrams through procurement, civil and structural works, DC and AC installation, testing and commissioning, and into a maintenance regime that keeps generation close to design.

Who it is for

  • Factories and manufacturing units with day-shift loads
  • Warehouses and logistics facilities with large roof spans
  • Hospitals, hotels, schools, colleges and institutions
  • Commercial buildings, showrooms and office complexes
  • Large electricity consumers on commercial or HT tariffs

How it works

Load and tariff study

We review consumption pattern, tariff category, demand profile and sanctioned load to size capacity sensibly.

Structural review

Roof sheeting, purlin spacing and structural capacity decide whether rail-based, standing-seam or elevated structures are used.

Electrical integration

Inverter grouping, AC combiner panels, protection and metering interface are designed for your existing distribution.

Execution and safety

Work is sequenced around plant operations with defined safety practice for work at height and live electrical work.

Key benefits

  • Reduced cost of day-time electricity consumption
  • Better long-term energy cost planning
  • Lower dependence on grid supply during generating hours
  • Measurable progress against sustainability commitments
  • Productive use of otherwise idle roof area

Technical considerations

Capacity planning
Capacity is matched to day-time base load and roof capability. We do not promise a specific payback period; indicative figures are shared with their assumptions stated.
Roof types
Metal sheet, standing seam, RCC and shed roofs each need a different mounting approach to avoid leakage and respect warranty conditions.
Monitoring
Inverter-level or plant-level monitoring is provided so generation can be reviewed against expectation.
Approvals
Net metering or grid connectivity approvals follow the utility's prevailing process; GLS coordinates documentation and liaison.

Process

  1. 01 — Consultation

We understand your load profile, electricity bill, tariff category and objective.

  2. 02 — Site Assessment

Roof or land survey covering area, orientation, shadow, structure and electrical infrastructure.

  3. 03 — System Design

Capacity sizing, layout, module and inverter selection, cable and protection design.

  4. 04 — Proposal & Planning

Detailed scope, bill of materials, indicative generation and commercial proposal.

  5. 05 — Engineering & Installation

Structure fabrication and erection, module mounting, DC and AC works, earthing and protection.

  6. 06 — Testing & Commissioning

Insulation, polarity, string current, earthing and inverter commissioning checks.

  7. 07 — Grid Integration / Handover

Coordination for net-metering or grid approval where applicable, then documented handover.

  8. 08 — Monitoring & O&M

Generation review, scheduled cleaning and inspection, and corrective maintenance.

Frequently asked questions

  • Does commercial solar need to cover the full electricity requirement?

No. Most commercial systems are sized to the day-time base load so that generation is self-consumed. Oversizing beyond what the site consumes or can export rarely improves the economics.

  • Can solar be installed on a metal sheet factory roof?

Yes, with mounting hardware chosen for the sheet profile and purlin structure. A structural and sheet condition check is part of the assessment before any design is finalised.

  • Will installation disturb plant operations?

Work is planned in zones and scheduled around your shifts. Shutdowns are limited to the specific activities that require them, and are agreed in advance.
