Solar O&M / Maintenance

Solar Operation and Maintenance Services

Solar O&M keeps an installed plant generating close to its design output through scheduled cleaning, electrical inspection, performance review and prompt fault rectification. GLS provides O&M for its own installations and for systems built by others.

Overview

Generation losses usually accumulate quietly: soiling, a failed string fuse, a loose MC4 connection, a tripped inverter, degraded earthing or shading from new construction. None of these announce themselves on the bill immediately.

A structured O&M regime finds these early. GLS combines site visits with generation review so that deviation from expected output triggers investigation instead of going unnoticed.

Who it is for

  • Owners of residential and commercial rooftop systems
  • Industrial plants with in-house teams needing specialist support
  • Owners of systems whose original installer is unavailable
  • Plants showing unexplained generation drops

How it works

Preventive visits

Module cleaning, visual inspection, thermal and connection checks, structure and earthing inspection on a defined schedule.

Electrical checks

String current and voltage comparison, insulation resistance, protection device and inverter log review.

Performance review

Actual generation compared with expectation for the season, with deviations investigated.

Corrective work

Fault diagnosis and rectification, component replacement coordination and warranty claim support.

Key benefits

  • Protects long-term generation and asset life
  • Early detection of faults before they compound
  • Documented inspection and generation history
  • Specialist support without an in-house solar team

Technical considerations

Cleaning frequency
Driven by local dust, proximity to industry or roads, bird activity and rainfall pattern — set per site rather than by a fixed rule.
Safety
Work at height and live DC work follow defined safe practice, including isolation procedure and appropriate PPE.
Reporting
Each visit is recorded with observations, readings and recommended actions.

Process

  1. 01 — Consultation

We understand your load profile, electricity bill, tariff category and objective.

  2. 02 — Site Assessment

Roof or land survey covering area, orientation, shadow, structure and electrical infrastructure.

  3. 03 — System Design

Capacity sizing, layout, module and inverter selection, cable and protection design.

  4. 04 — Proposal & Planning

Detailed scope, bill of materials, indicative generation and commercial proposal.

  5. 05 — Engineering & Installation

Structure fabrication and erection, module mounting, DC and AC works, earthing and protection.

  6. 06 — Testing & Commissioning

Insulation, polarity, string current, earthing and inverter commissioning checks.

  7. 07 — Grid Integration / Handover

Coordination for net-metering or grid approval where applicable, then documented handover.

  8. 08 — Monitoring & O&M

Generation review, scheduled cleaning and inspection, and corrective maintenance.

Frequently asked questions

  • How often should solar panels be cleaned?

In and around Chennai, dusty or industrial locations often need cleaning every few weeks in dry months, while cleaner sites need it less often. The schedule is set from observed soiling at your site.

  • Can GLS maintain a system installed by another company?

Yes. We begin with an inspection and performance audit to establish current condition, then propose a maintenance scope based on what we find.
